Belle Terre Elementary School's student pick-up line was full on the afternoon of March 30, the first day of coronavirus-induced virtual learning at Flagler Schools, as teachers and staff painted cars and got their signs ready for a parade through the B- and L-sections to show the students they are loved.
"I miss my job. I miss being around people, but we gotta do what we gotta do for the kids."

"We want to bring some spirit and some happy memories for the kids in all of this," said Katrina Feola, assistant principal. "It's a confusing time for the kids and the families, and teachers are generally a stable part of their lives. We wanted them to be able to look us in the eyes and let them know they'll be OK."
While most rode in passenger seats, second grade teacher Theresa Altman rode high in a convertible driven by her husband, Palm Coast Ford Pre-owned Manager Charles Altman. Theresa Altman was dressed as the Princess of Positivity, at one of the other teacher's suggestions.
"I didn't want to be the Queen of Quarantine," she said.
Principal Jessica DeFord walked between the cars before the parade began and said, "Our teachers love our kiddos."
"We're behind them no matter what," said sixth grade teacher Roskei Jackson.
