The Halifax Humane Society is now open to the public by appointment only during its regular business hours.
Only 10 people are allowed in the adoption area at a time to comply with social distancing guidelines. Currently, the Culler Boarding and Grooming Center and the thrift store are also open with the same guidelines in place. The Redinger Spay/Neuter Clinic is not accepting new appointments, as staff is working to reschedule the 2,300 appointments that had to be canceled due to COVID-19, according to an email.
Here are four pets available for adoption:
The first is DeeDee, a 7-year-old terrier and American Staffordshire mix with a black coat. She had been adopted but was returned. DeeDee is very loyal and protective and will do better in a one-woman household without any other pets. She will cuddle with you, go on walks and love you, HHS said. She's not an aggressive dog, but doesn't like others getting her owner's attention.
The second is Clementine, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair cat with a grey coat. Her adoption fee is $50.
The third is Clarke, a 4-year-old terrier and American Staffordshire mix with a brown coat. His adoption fee is $35.
Last but not least is Panda, a 10-year-old Boxer mix with a black and white coat. Her adoption fee is $35.
