Cases of COVID-19 totaled 15,456 in Florida on Wednesday, April 8, an increase of over 900 from yesterday's numbers. Locally, Volusia County cases have risen by one case to 163; Flagler County had 35 as of the latest data released before noon Tuesday, April 7, by the Florida Department of Health.
Of the 163 Volusia cases, there have been 39 hospitalizations and three deaths, according to the DOH's COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard. Three people are currently awaiting testing.
Of the 35 Flagler cases, there were six hospitalizations and one death. DOH reported no one is awaiting testing.
Of the 15,456 known positive COVID-19 cases statewide, a total of 309 people have died, and 1,955 have been hospitalized. The state has tested 144,570 people, and the percentage who have tested positive is approximately 10.7%.
