1:58 p.m. — 700 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. Police arrested a 53-year-old man who stole a Tracfone from a local retail pharmacy store, telling police that he stole the phone because he wanted to call is girlfriend in Ocala.
The man threw the box away in a nearby cemetery, according to his arrest report. An officer went and retrieved it. The phone is worth $39.99.
Police discovered the man's criminal history detailed over 12 theft convictions since 1988. He was taken to jail.
8:49 p.m. — First block of North Yonge Street
Indecent exposure. Police arrested a 38-year-old Ormond Beach man who was seen urinating in a homeowner's yard.
When police arrived on the scene, the man had an open can of Steel Reserve Spiked Watermelon. Police secured him in handcuffs and asked him wha he was doing in the homeowner's yard. The man said he wasn't doing anything and denied urinating in the yard. Police noted that the man showed several signs of heavy intoxication, and that he kept repeating he didn't urinate in the yard.
At one point, he used a racist expletive to describe the person he believed urinated in the yard. Police asked the man, if there were cameras in the area, would they tell the same story? The man stated he would be found guilty in that case, according to his affidavit.
He was taken to jail.
11:24 a.m. — 100 block of East Granada Boulevard
Suspicious incident. Local restaurant employees arrived to work to find an unpleasant surprise: feces near a post by the entrance.
An officer spoke with the restaurant manager, who said video surveillance showed what appeared to be two homeless men lingering in the front of the business. One is seen walking off-camera and the second retrieves feces from the front of his pants and throws it down the front support pillar, according to the incident report.
The manager told police he would try to resolve an issue with the motion lights not working properly and said he would contact them if he saw the man again.
