Flagler County, Palm Coast, Flagler Beach plan virtual and radio Memorial Day ceremonies

Flagler County and Flagler Beach will hold ceremonies that can be heard by radio or streamed over the internet.

Flagler County, Palm Coast and Flagler Beach will hold Memorial Day ceremonies remotely this year, playing them over the radio or streaming on the internet. Details on each ceremony are posted below.

Palm Coast

When: 8 a.m. Monday, May 25

How to watch/listen: Watch on the city of Palm Coast's Facebook page @palmcoastgov.

The city's video event will feature remarks from Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland and U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz, and the singing of the national anthem by Jill Vanderoef, according to a city of Palm Coast news release.

There will also be a walkthrough of Palm Coast's Heroes Memorial Park and a bagpipe performance of Amazing Grace by Palm Coast Firefighter/Paramedic Patrick Juliano, the commander of the city's Fire Department Honor Guard.

Flagler County

When: 9 a.m.  Monday, May 25

How to watch/listen: Listen on WNZF 94.9 FM, Kix Country 98.7 FM, by live streaming at FlaglerBroadcasting.com, and on the Flagler Radio mobile app. Watch on Flagler County’s YouTube page or Facebook page.

Admiral Mark Boensel, US Navy (retired) will be the event's keynote speaker, and there will be a recounting of the historic first time in U.S. Naval history that an aviator was buried in his aircraft after being killed in action, according to a county government news release.

In addition to Boensel’s speech and the burial at sea presentation by local historian Sisco Deen, U.S. Air Force Captain, retired, the ceremony will include the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and the Last Roll Call — the reading of the names of Flagler County’s departed veterans, as reported by the local military organizations.

The county’s GIS division created an app – Flagler County Veterans Memorial – to showcase friends and family members who lost their lives during active duty, as well as an online submission form to provide the necessary information and photo to populate the memorial.

 

City of Flagler Beach
