Taneisa Jones is the first recipient of the Mary Ann Clark Scholarship, awarded by American Association of University Women Flagler.
Last December, AAUW Flagler announced the creation of the Mary Ann Clark Scholarship to honor one of its charter members. At the time, AAUW Flagler Scholarship Committee chair, Elinor Bozzone said the goal was to raise $1,000. Within less than an hour, $650 had been raised. Today, the total has exceeded $1,500.
With her grandmother, Dorothy B. Jones, as her inspiration, Jones continues to expand her career as a child care specialist.
Faced with struggles as a teen mother, she held part-time jobs, volunteered at her church, and cared for her child as she returned to school.
Upon completion of her associates degree in early childhood education, Jones plans to pursue degrees in elementary education and curriculum development.
The city of Palm Coast hired Renina Fuller on May 18 as the new Human Resources director.
“We are coming together as a new team, and we will be working together to make a difference to our employees and the community we serve,” said Fuller, who has more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sector.
She was director of Human Resources with the city of New Smyrna Beach since June 2019. Prior to that, she was in the same role for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office for seven years.
“Ms. Fuller brings a tremendous wealth of education, experience and professionalism," City Manager Matthew Morton said.
On top of public service, she has participated in numerous community service initiatives through organizations including Family Promise, Richmond Place, and Hope Center – all in Kentucky where Fuller is originally from.
The Fuller family then moved to Palm Coast in 2011 to be closer to family and live by water.
Sidney Colino, who will be a senior at Flagler Palm Coast High School during the 2020-2021 school year, recently was selected to perform with the Macy's Great American Marching Band in November, in New York City.
"This has been a dream since my freshman year in high school, and I'm extremely grateful to represent Palm Coast, Florida during this once in a lifetime event," she wrote in a GoFundMe post. "This is a huge honor to me and I would love to attend this event, but I need your help!"

There will be no Access Flagler First event in June this year because of COVID-19. The next event will be held in October.
During a typical event, nearly 200 families are served – more than 400 adults and children – including about 6% who are veterans, and more than 20% who are disabled.
“Access Flagler First has been bringing together social service agencies for those who need it for the past nine years,” said Human Services Program Manager Janet Nickels. “We just don’t feel it is prudent right now to bring hundreds of people we serve together plus 28 social services agencies and volunteers.”
The next Access Flagler First will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at Cattlemen’s Hall on the Fairgrounds, 150 Sawgrass Road, Bunnell.
