Two turtles were under the spotlight recently by the Palm Coast Arts Foundation.

First, the Winged Victory of Samothrace was unveiled as Turtle 11 on the PCAF Turtle Trail, on Monday, Oct. 19, at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell. The sponsor was the John W. Kurtich Foundation for Study and Research. The artist is Christine Broussard.

Second, the Garfield-inspired turtle was rededicated Oct. 31, in front of the Palm Coast Historical Society, as part of the Eagle Scout project by Philip Cangialosi. The Historical Society recently celebrated Founders Day on Oct. 29, marking 50 years since ITT opened a welcome center in Palm Coast.

The Garden Club and the city of Palm Coast were instrumental in making the rededication and beautification project happen. Mayor Milissa Holland, County Commissioner Greg Hansen, turtle artist Andy Sovia and PCAF's Nancy Crouch were also in attendance, as was Historical Society member and turtle sponsor Kathy Reichard Ellavsky. Visit the turtle at 18 Florida Park Drive.
