Mainland fell to Columbia 28-26 in the 6A-Region 1 semifinal in Lake City on Nov. 27.
The Bucs got on the scoreboard first with a touchdown by Greg Mango, after a 67-year drive. K.J. McCabe kicked a field goal to put the Bucs up 10-0 in the second quarter.
The Columbia Tigers scored three unanswered touchdowns, taking a 21-10 lead, before a 23-yard touchdown pass from T.J. Lockley to Lucas Williamson late in the third quarter. Lockley then scored again from four yards out in the fourth quarter, as Mainland took the lead, 24-21.
A Mainland fumble led to a 60-yard touchdown return by Columbia, however, with 2:50 left in the fourth quarter. After a safety with 11 seconds left, Columbia still led 28-26, and that's how the game would end.
