Matanzas volleyball hosted FPC in an intense game that resulted in the Pirates defeating the Bulldogs 3-0. The scores for each set were 18-25, 15-25, and 23-25. The Pirates constantly held the lead and remained in control during each set with only a few lead changes from the Bulldogs.
During the third and final set, FPC began to rally, coming back from a deficit of only a few points to put pressure on Matanzas, even bringing the game to a tie at one point (21-21). From there, it was down-to-the-wire. Despite FPC's efforts, the team was unable to continue their drive forward due to a few errors, only scoring two more points. This allowed Matanzas to retain the lead, winning the game after scoring four more points.
The Pirates will travel to Spruce Creek tomorrow and face off against the Hawks while the Bulldogs will travel to Nease High School on Oct. 13.
