Two dogs and one cat have been featured as this week's Halifax Humane Society Adoptable Pets of the Week.
The first dog is Lucy, a 7-year-old terrier and American Staffordshire mix with a tan coat. She originally came to the shelter in August 2018 and has since tried out a few homes, but has yet to find the perfect fit. Lucy is a cuddle bug and loves to be by your side all the time, but has high anxiety when it comes to loud noises such as thunderstorms, fireworks and the like. She would do best in a home with parents that have prior experience with dogs like her. She should also be the only pet in the home. Her adoption fee is $35.
The second is Doris, an 8-year-old terrier and American Staffordshire mix with a tan and white coat. She has been at the shelter since she was found as a stray in late June and is still looking for her forever home. She is a relaxed low-maintenance dog looking for a calm and patient home. She loves treats and lounging the shelter's outdoor kiddie pools. Her adoption fee is $35.
Last but not least is Serenity, a 1-year-old domestic shorthair cat with a black and white coat. Serenity loves to play and cuddle, and at her young age, has plenty of energy to use up. She enjoys a variety of toys like jingle balls, catnip mice, lasers and strings. Her adoption fee is $50.
The Halifax Humane Society is also having a "Fee Free Cat" promotion until Wednesday, Oct. 14. All "ready to go cats" have their adoption fees waived. There are no age restrictions and these cats have all been spayed or neutered, are up-to-date with vaccines and are microchipped.
In addition, at 12-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, the Halifax Humane Society will be at Subaru of Daytona, located at 670 N. Tomoka Farms Road, for a special adoption event with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A total of 10 cats and 10 dogs will have waived adoption fees due to a grant from the ASPCA and Subaru Loves Pets.
The Halifax Humane Society is now open to the public by appointment only during its regular business hours. To adopt, contact [email protected] or call 274-4703.
