Dear Editor:
Really? The only place for a Joe’s NY Pizza and Pasta ad was over Donald Trump Jr.’s face? That was ridiculous.

Editor’s Note: Agreed! That was unfortunate. However, it was not a political statement; our printer in Ocala adheres the stickers by machine, without regard to what is underneath the sticker. Fortunately, the sticker uses light adhesive and is easily removed for a full view of Donald Trump Jr.
Dear Editor:
I would like to applaud the anonymous women who are sharing their stories about their experiences with the horror of domestic violence and the call for help that saved their lives, in the Working Mamas column. I am glad to see the acknowledgement of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. These shared experiences could be saving other people’s lives as well.
In your front-page article about Donald Trump Jr. visiting Volusia-Flagler County, there was quoted an often repeated disrespectful phrase that Joe Biden has “done nothing in 47 years.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden has accomplished an abundance of things, to include the passage of The Violence Against Women Act. This act helps millions of women, like the anonymous women sharing their experiences in your article. Listed at the end of the anonymous stories, is the Domestic Violence Hotline, which was started after the Violence Against Women Act was enacted.
I would ask the Observer, in the spirit of fair reporting, to report the many accomplishments of Joe Biden. Please represent both sides evenly.

Editor’s Note: Thanks for recognizing the domestic violence awareness messages, led by one of our advertisers, Megan Farrell. With regard to the accomplishments of Joe Biden, as a local newspaper, we don’t do much related to national politics; but we considered it unusual enough of an event for the son of a president to visit our coverage area that we made an exception. If Hunter Biden visits, we will be there!
Dear Editor:
If you’re thinking of sitting out this election because you lack motivation to cast a ballot, or because you find it difficult to muster enthusiasm for a candidate, or because you’re demoralized by the bedlam, confusion and uncertainty surrounding the election and its aftermath, or if you think you can wait until next time when a better candidate comes along, please take a moment to reconsider your decision.
The election for president is a binary choice — one of two people is going to win — and that person is going to determine our future. The country will not idle in neutral while you wait for an ideal candidate to come along.
Ask yourself where you want the country to be four years from now when it comes to issues that matter to you. Do you want to be closer to solving and resolving those issues to your satisfaction, or not? That’s what this election comes down to.
The political atmosphere can leave us feeling demoralized, exhausted and helpless. We cannot allow the tumult to crush our spirits. The one thing over which we have control is our vote. Fretting about what’s happening or what’s going to happen won’t change things. Voting will. Voting is the only thing that will.
