Want a lot of belly laughs to lighten your spirits? Daytona Playhouse presents "Greater Tuna," directed by Tyler Adcock and Amanda Sayles. What do Arles Struvie, Thurston Wheelis, Aunt Pearl, Didi Snavely and Phineas Blye all have in common? They are all among the upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas’s third smallest town, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal, and Patsy Cline never dies.
"Greater Tuna," the long-running off-Broadway hit, features three Palm Coast actors (Tyler Adcock, Timothy Wilds, and Amanda Sayles) creating the entire population of this small Texas town in a “tour de farce” of quick-change artistry — doffing costumes and characters faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote. It was written (and originally performed) by Jaston Williams and Joe Sears with Ed Howard. The hilarious send-up of small-town morals and mores will run Friday, April 23, to Sunday, May 2.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $19 for seniors, and $10 for kids age 18 and under. Buy online at www.DaytonaPlayhouse.org or call 386-255-2431.
Safety protocols require the audience to remain masked. Actors will not be masked given the quick costume changes but are frequently tested and have been vaccinated for your safety.
Daytona Playhouse is located at 100 Jessamine Blvd., Daytona Beach (beachside).
