Palm Coast City Manager Matthew Morton has appointed Brittany Kershaw as the Director of Public Information and Engagement for the city of Palm Coast. Kershaw will advance the city’s outreach platforms while ensuring all Palm Coast residents and businesses receive timely and accurate information.

Brittany will begin in her new role May 17. Currently the Public Affairs Manager for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Kershaw brings extensive communications management experience to the position, coupled with a passion for the community of Palm Coast.

"We are excited to welcome Brittany Kershaw as the city’s first Director of Public Information and Engagement," Morton said. "She brings a great deal of experience in communicating with our residents, and I know she will make a great addition to the city team."

In her role with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Kershaw increased the social media following by 700% and helped bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community through the use of social media during critical incidents and community events. She is driven to communicate the message of the city by humanizing the efforts of employees in the way they deserve to be represented.

Kershaw will play a critical role in evolving ongoing communication efforts while overseeing the Public Information and Engagement team within the city. She is committed to building a transparent, responsive communications platform that reflects the needs of Palm Coast residents.

“I am excited to embrace the role of Public Information and Engagement Director with the City of Palm Coast to continue my outreach to the community through this incredible opportunity,” Kershaw said.

Kershaw holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of South Florida. She has developed award-winning communications programs and projects in the past. She received national recognition in 2018 with the County Government-to-Citizen Experience award from the Center for Digital Government for enhancing the interaction with citizens to deliver community services.

In an effort to more accurately align with council priorities and the city’s mission, the Communications and Marketing Department is being rebranded as the Public Information and Engagement Department.
