Palm Coast City Councilman Victor Barbosa has been hospitalized with COVID-19.
"Three day in the hospital fighting covid and pneumonia," Barbosa wrote in a public Facebook post on Sunday, Aug. 1. He added in a later comment on the post that he'd had trouble breathing.
There were several hundred comments on the post, mostly words of encouragement, by Monday.
Barbosa's hospitalization follows that of Bunnell City Commissioner John Rogers, who said on a recent episode of Flagler Broadcasting's "Free For All Friday" that he'd gone to the emergency room three times with COVID-19.
Local officials have been urging residents to mask up and get vaccinated to slow the current surge in cases.
