Former chief of the U.S. Border Patrol Michael Fisher will be the guest speaker for the Flagler Tiger Bay Club's 9/11 Anniversary Public Program, 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Flagler Auditorium, 5500 State Road 100.

Fisher was the longest serving chief of the U.S. Border Patrol. In his six years, he oversaw approximately 25,000 personnel and managed a $3.5 billion budget. He helped develop a comprehensive national border security strategy and frequently advised members of Congress, National Security staff and engaged with industry.

Fisher will discuss 9/11, the initiation of the war on terrorism and the formation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. His remarks will take us forward to today's homeland security challenges, focused on the southwest border and the impacts on Florida.

Students and Flagler County's 2,000 retired first responders are especially encouraged to attend.

The event is free and open to public, with seating for the first 500 guests.
