A growing nonprofit organization founded by a local family recently hosted their first charity giveaway to help families in need. Love Joy and Faith Inc. hosted a “Free Flea Market” at the G.W. Carver Community Center (203 E. Drain St.) on Monday, Nov. 22.
In all, the event provided new and gently used items to around 200 local families.
“The people were very grateful,” said LaTrisha Williams, co-founder of Love Joy and Faith Inc. “We want to thank G.W. Carver Gym for allowing us to host this event, as it is our pleasure to serve our community.”
Williams said the organization’s goal is to host Free Flea Market events on a quarterly basis.
“We want to be a reliable resource to our community as part of our work to find the need and then plant seeds of love,” she said. “We want people to experience true joy by modeling a Christ-like love that strives to meet all types of needs, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.”
To keep the momentum going following the inaugural event, Williams is calling upon the community to donate in support of future markets. To date, the Williams family has relied on personal funds to pay for storage as well as rental fees for a truck to pick up donations.
“We can’t do this without the help of our community,” she said. “We are in need of a warehouse space and a van/truck as well as monetary donations.”
Local community members and businesses that would like to donate in support of the Free Flea Market can mail checks payable to Love Joy and Faith Inc to P.O Box 106 | Bunnell, FL 32110.
