10:51 p.m. U.S. 1 at Kankakee Trail
DUI. A deputy noticed that a car wasn't staying in its lane as it headed south on U.S. 1. The car tried to turn onto Kankakee Trail, but missed the turn and swerved, almost hitting another car.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a man, smelled of alcohol, and admitted that he'd had a few beers a few hours before. The man was "extremely talkative," the deputy noted in a report, and "would spontaneously state 'excuse me' to me constantly even if I had not addressed him."
The man's wife, from the passenger seat, told the deputy that she'd had a few beers and a shot, and that her husband had had just as many.
The man consented to field sobriety testing, and failed it. He was arrested.
6:30 p.m. Old Haw Creek Road
DUI. A deputy driving north on Old Haw Creek Road toward State Road 11 noticed a car stopped in the middle of the intersection. The deputy pulled the car over.
When the driver opened the window, the deputy smelled alcohol and marijuana. There was an empty pack of beer on the passenger floor board.
Deputies asked the man if he'd been drinking. He said he'd had two beers. Then he said he'd had two to three beers. Then he said he'd had two, three or four beers.
A deputy asked the man if knew how many beers he'd had.
The man shook his head.
The man failed field sobriety testing. Deputies arrested him.
