Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Court and Detention Services, Daniel M. Engert, has been appointed a commissioner on the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission. His term will begin on Jan. 1, 2022. He will also serve on the FCAC’s Standards Review and Interpretation and Audit committees.
“I congratulate Chief Engert for his appointment as a Commissioner of FCAC,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Like the law enforcement accreditation commission, which I chair, the FCAC ensures Florida’s correctional facilities deliver correctional services at the highest levels to inmates and the community meeting today’s professional standards, including our very own Green Roof Inn. It is an honor to be appointed and we are all very proud of him!”
Engert joined FCSO in January of 2020 and currently serves as Chief of Court and Detention Services. He is also a member of the American Jail Association Board of Directors, is a Certified Jail Manager, Certified Correctional Health Professional, and a member of the Academy of Correctional Health Providers.
The FCAC is a not-for-profit Florida accreditation program that aids in maintaining the highest standards for Florida correctional facilities, pretrial and probation agencies by complying with established professional standards. The Commission’s purpose is to improve the delivery of correctional, pretrial and probation services through an accreditation program based on Florida law and best practices. The Commission is comprised of 12 appointed volunteer members - four sheriffs appointed by the FSA, six jail administrators appointed by the FCAC Nominating Committee, one pretrial professional appointed by the Association of Pretrial Professionals of Florida, and one probation professional appointed by the Florida Association of Community Corrections. There are 35 correctional facilities accredited in Florida, including Flagler County’s Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
