Filing a false report. A 22-year-old food delivery app driver who claimed her rented car was stolen was charged with filing a false police report after she was found driving the "stolen" vehicle in another city a few days later.
The woman told police that she had stolen the vehicle from her friend, who had rented the vehicle for her to use while working for the food delivery app. Police also found her to be in possession of 117 grams of marijuana, which she admitted to selling.
In the original police report, the woman was warned by officers that filing a false police report and a written statement was a criminal offense. Officers were suspicious since there was a delay between when the woman alleged the car was stolen and when she reported it. Initially, she also reported the vehicle as stolen in Port Orange, and told officers that she realized later she had gotten the address wrong for the restaurant she said the car was stolen from.

Disturbance. A 51-year-old Daytona Beach man allegedly flashed a tin foil badge at an Ormond Beach resident after the man accused him of stealing his motorized bike.
According to the incident report, the resident was walking down Granada Boulevard when the man, who was in a pickup truck, stopped him. The resident told the man that he found the bike on the side of the road months ago, and asked the man if he could provide a proof of ownership. If he did, the resident said he would give him the bike.
However, the man then tried to take the bike by force, at which point he flashed his wallet and said, "Would you disobey an order from a public officer?" The wallet was left behind, and police attempted to make contact with the man. His driver's license was not valid, so police placed it in records. The reporting officer determined nothing criminal appeared to have occurred.

Improper exhibition of a firearm. A 44-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested after he was seen sitting in the front driver seat of a work van with a visible BB gun.
According to his arrest report, witnesses called police after seeing the man holding the gun out of the driver's vehicle window. The man told police that he believed he was having a mental episode as he though he was "seeing a ghost." The man said he suffered from paranoia and thought it was OK for him to hold the gun out.
Officers asked him if he was aware of what could have happened if he pointed the gun at anyone, and the man said, "It does not matter. It is not a real gun. It could have been any gun, like a water gun," the report states. The man did, however, apologize.
He was taken to jail.
