“The team worked hard all season to reach the district finals and a well deserved first place,” head coach Christine Goebel said. “We have players that were hurt during the season that we missed but the ones who took their place did a great job. This is the second time we started down on the score but the key for this team is they show character, concentration and most importantly, they never give up. The seniors and team captains, Riley Stoner and Gia Loun are the ones who keep the team focused and help them on and off the field.”
The Lady Sandcrabs wrap up the season with an 8-3-2 record as they host the Englewood Rams in the Class 5A state championship tournament.
“Honestly, no one gave one dime for our girls and they were like underdogs all the time, working hard at training sessions and developing at games," Coach Alejandro Perez said. "Just shows what’s best at the end.”
