Dear Editor:
I am writing to thank all the organizations and people involved in administering the COVID vaccines last week. I was one of the fortune residents to get the first vaccine at the fairgrounds on Jan. 7. I cannot praise the Florida Department of Health in Flagler County, Flagler Fire Rescue, Flagler County Emergency Management and any other organization involved in the process enough.
My appointment was at 9 a.m. I arrived about 8:45 and was out by 9:15, including a 15-minute holding period to make sure I did not have any reactions.
The whole process was well organized, and the staff/volunteers couldn’t be any friendlier. At each stop, you were given detailed instructions, and the staff could answer questions. I haven’t seen customer service like they offered in a very long time.

Dear Editor:
Here is the difference in vaccine administration between Florida, under DeSantis, and Washington state: In Florida, our friends who are in their 80s had to sleep overnight in their cars in order to get the vaccine. In Washington, our friends who are in their 80s received a telephone call telling them that their vaccines were ready to be administered. Fortunately, for us our governor comes up for election in two years.

Editor's note: In Flagler County, at least two cars waited overnight for vaccines on Jan. 2, which was advertised for health care workers rather than seniors. Beginning Jan. 5, vaccines have been administered by appointment only, with little to no lines.
