Flagler County Veterans Services Office is encouraging eligible veterans to get COVID-19 vaccinations that are being offered through the Veterans Administration.

The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System is offering COVID-19 vaccinations to veterans who receive care at the VA and work within “CDC group 1b” that includes: firefighters; police officers; corrections officers; food and agricultural workers; United States Postal Service workers; manufacturing workers; grocery store workers; public transit workers; and, the educational sector (teachers, support staff, and daycare workers).

“We encourage our veterans who are in these categories to take advantage of this opportunity to get vaccinated,” said Veterans Services Officer David Lydon.

Veterans who work in these fields can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the VA at no cost, but they must receive care through the VA. Limited vaccine is available.

“If we are unable to schedule the Veteran an appointment, we will document their interest in receiving the vaccine. As additional vaccines become available, our team will reach out to the Veteran with additional scheduling options,” reads a statement that was sent to Flagler County by the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System vaccination team.

Veterans can call 352-548-6000 ext. 103755 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., or Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., to schedule an appointment.

“We are here to serve our veterans,” Lydon said. “The VA encourages veterans to take advantage of the benefits offered to them for serving our country.”
