The Flagler County Education Foundation held its annual dinner on June 30, at Club de Bonmont in Plantation Bay. The evening raised $70,000 and awareness for two mentoring programs in Flagler Schools, Career Coaching and the Peter & Sue Freytag Take Stock in Children program.

"The money raised at our annual dinner is going to change students' lives through our mentoring programs," said Becca Bower, assistant director of the Ed Foundation.

"We must give special thanks to Scott Sowers of Cline Construction and Joe Wright of Quantum Electric for their generous support. Reaching our goal this evening would have been difficult without these two gentlemen," said Joe Rizzo, Executive Director.

The evening also celebrated Philanthropist of the Year Forough Hosseini, vice president of information systems for ICI Homes and founder/chair for Food Brings Hope. Food Brings Hope is a local nonprofit organization, serving over 1,700 students in both Flagler and Volusia counties, providing food, enhanced academics and cultural enrichment. The Food Brings Hope program is in both Bunnell Elementary School and Wadsworth Elementary School in Flagler County.

Installation of new Board members, Vincent Sullivan and Khanh Lien-Banko, as well as the new Executive Committee, was also a highlight of the evening. This year's Executive Committee is as follows: President Dr. Jennifer Thornton, Palm Coast Chiropractic Center; President Elect AnnMarie Zweifel, Brown & Brown; Vice President Maria Lavin-Sanhudo, South State Bank; Treasurer Jennifer Ames, ERA Real Estate Palm Coast Homes & Land Inc.; and Secretary Vicki Tiehen, Raymond James.
