Reward doubled to $200,000 for suspect in Daytona Beach Police officer's shooting

The sheriff announced that the reward has been set to $200,000.

The reward in exchange for information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect who shot 26-year-old Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynes has been doubled to $200,000 thanks to anonymous donor, announced Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood on Facebook on Friday, June 25, on behalf of himself and Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young.

The suspect, 29-year-old Othal Wallace, fled 133 Kingston Ave. after shooting Raynes in the head just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23. Raynes, who police say was investigating a suspicious incident according to the Daytona Beach Police Department, remains in critical condition at Halifax Health. The initial reward for Wallace's arrest was set at $100,000.

A GoFundMe page was launched to help Raynor and his family. As of the afternoon of Friday, June 25, the page has raised over $73,000 of its $100,000 goal. To donate, visit www.gofund.me/13f4d511

Anyone with information about Wallace’s whereabouts is asked to contact the DBPD tip line at 671-5555, or 911 in case of an emergency. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online and through Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS.
