The 29-year-old suspect who shot a Daytona Beach Police officer was arrested at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, said Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young in a press conference.

Othal Wallace, who DBPD reports shot Officer Jason Raynes in the head just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, while Raynes was investigating a suspicious incident at 133 Kingston Ave., was found hiding in a treehouse in a wooded 3-acre property outside Atlanta, Georgia. Young said that the property is affiliated with the Not F------ Around Coalition, a black nationalist paramilitary organization. A large arsenal of weapons were found at the property.

Young thanked all the agencies involved in Wallace's capture as well as his officers, the Volusia Sheriff' Office and the community for its support. The U.S. Marshall's Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security, Georgia State Patrol and DeKalb County Police Department assisted in his capture, though he was handcuffed by DBPD officers, one of which was assigned to the U.S. Marshall's task force.

Young kept his statements during the press conference brief.

“I think everybody right now is just experiencing the fatigue that sets in after a huge adrenaline jump, because that’s what it’s been for the past 56 hours," he said.

The chief also gave an update on Raynor, saying there were positive signs of improvement, and that doctors had determined he was strong enough for more testing.

When asked if Wallace had made a statement at the time of his arrest, Young relayed what the suspect reportedly said.

“What he said was, ‘You guys know who I am? You know what I’m capable of, and it could have been a lot worse.’ That was his statement," Young said.

Wallace will be transported back to Daytona Beach where he has been charged with attempted first degree murder on a law enforcement officer.
