Possession of methamphetamine. Police received a call about a suspicious person and arrived at a local gas station to investigate. Once there, they found a man covered in a blanket while sitting inside his vehicle.
Officers approached him and asked what had happened, and the man, a 57-year-old Daytona Beach resident, said his driver, whom he did not know, had disappeared. He told officers he couldn't drive the car and had nowhere to go. During the identification portion of their interaction, the man claimed to not have a middle or last name. Officers asked him what year it was, and the man replied "1985."
Paramedics assured that the man's vitals were within normal limits. Police searched the vehicle to take note of items before it was towed, and that's when they discovered methamphetamine in a plastic bag. The man said there had been many people in and out of the vehicle and said that people "eat it," referring to the drugs.
The reporting officer asked if that was what he had done, and the man said, "No, that's just what [I] heard people do."
He was taken to jail.

Suspicious incident. A New Smyrna Beach man sent the city a package containing 10 wooden gift shop souvenirs and a note claiming them to be items sent on behalf of prisoners and those pardoned by former President Trump, according to a police report.
A city employee notified police about the package and the "nonsensical note," and police responded in order to examine the package. The reporting officer noted the souvenirs were wrapped in paper towels and secured with rubber bands. Each was signed by the man, was numbered, and displayed a different name or storefront. The note stated that the man had recently lost or moved storage units and was sending the items to government officials.
The city employee said the package would be returned to the sender.

Fraud. A 57-year-old Ormond Beach woman was scammed out of over $350 when an unknown person claiming to be an actor of "The Walking Dead" asked her to book hotel rooms and flights on his behalf.
According to the police report, the woman met the impersonator in a social media group and the two started talking about the show. After a few weeks of contact, he informed her he was going to visit Florida and that since he was oversees, needed her to "act as an agent for him," the report states. He asked for her personal information, including her debit card number, and asked for Apple iTunes gift cards to make purchases in the U.S.
The woman did as he asked and bought three gift cards for $100 each. A few days later, she noticed a strange charge on her account, and notified police of the incident. She wished to press charges if the man is located.
