Barrel of bones

12:04 p.m. First block of Forest Hill Drive.

Suspicious incident. A man was cleaning up a property for a real estate company when he noticed an odd smell. He followed it until he found a pile of bones in a barrel on the western side of the property.

Deputies made contact with the home's prior owner. The barrel wasn't hers, she said, but other people had lived into house.

She'd been aware of the barrel beforehand: An assistant who was helping clean the backyard the previous weekend had noticed it.

Law enforcement collected the bones and presented them to the medical examiner's office to make sure they weren't human.

The medical examiner's office found that they were not.
