With the last of the CARES Individual Assistance checks mailed Tuesday, March 2, Flagler County officials are pleased to announce that $9,786,014 in federal stimulus money made it into the hands of 4,634 residents and 701 small businesses.
The money was made available through three programs: CARES Individual Assistance; CARES Small Business Grants; and, Coronavirus Relief Funds that were made available through the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
“This was a process that required coordination with many partners – Health and Human Services, Finance, Tourism and Economic Development, and Emergency Management Departments led various aspects of the programs,” said Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord. “We also had significant support from many other county departments, our municipalities, the Clerk of Courts, and the non-profit Flagler Cares,”
Of the original CARES Funds, Small businesses received $4,772,500. Another $4,365,567 was distributed to individuals. The third pot of money – $644,947 in Coronavirus Relief Funds – was distributed specifically to cover rent and utilities for low-income residents.
“The goal of the Coronavirus Relief Funds from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation was to prevent evictions,” said Health and Human Services Director Joyce Bishop. “It was gratifying to be part of the process.”
