Ormond Ace Hardware could soon expand in the city of Ormond Beach.
On Thursday, March 11, the Ormond Beach Planning Board will review a rezoning and development order request by Gross Family Properties NG LLC, which currently own and operate the Ace Hardware storefront at 333 W. According to the staff report, the 2.7-acre property is currently zoned B-7 Highway Tourist Commercial. A Planned Business Development, zoning would allow the business to open a 2,475-square-foot outdoor garden center, as that requires a public hearing approval.
They also seek a setback reduction to preserve a historic tree, and another one between the Flagler Road and Gowers Street.
Ace Hardware has been operated by members of the Gross Family since the 1970s, according to application they submitted to the city for the project.
“As the community grows and expands, we too are expanding the hometown, convenient hardware experience in hopes of servicing the needs of both our residential and business customers in the Ormond Crossings area,” the application reads.
