In a survey taken between January and February 2021, 96% of Palm Coast residents reported that they "felt safe in their neighborhoods" and over 92% plan to stay "at least five more years."
The survey, designed by the city of Palm Coast, asked residents about various topics including quality of life, development, services, safety, infrastructure and more. The survey was available to all residents online and in-person at various city facilities.
Since Sheriff Rick Staly took office in 2017, crime has dropped 48%. In fact, this is the lowest crime rate the county has seen in 25 years when its population was just 40,000 residents.
In 2020, the FCSO implemented real time crime analytics, the latest technology in our Real Time Crime Center, community and business partnerships, and a strong program of educating citizens on how to keep their property safe.
“Surveys like this one are great indicators that our crime-fighting strategies are working,” Staly said. “Providing excellent service and keeping residents safe is our number one priority. The men and women of the FCSO will continue to strive to make Flagler County one of the safest places to work, live and visit in Florida.”
