Mainland sprinter Cydney Wright, who was one of the top sprinters in the area this year proved that she was also one of the top sprinters in the state after making two podium finishes at the FHSAA 3A track and field championships on May 7.
Wright won the 200m in a time of 23.68 and third in the 100m in a time of 11.72. Teammate Isaiah Gordon finished 12th overall in the boys shot put, ending the competition with a throw of 15.01m.
Seabreeze junior Ella Chandler finished third in the girls 800m, crossing the line in 2:14.57. Fellow Sandcrab Tyler Smith competed in the javelin throw, finishing ninth after her threw the javelin at a distance of 43.51m.
For Father Lopez competing in 1A, Victoria Woods finished 5th in the girls high jump after clearing a height of 1.49m.
Seth Augustynowski, Brendan O'Quinn, Colin McDonnell, and Andrew Gazzoli finished 8th in the boys 4x800m relay with a time of 8:25. Augustynowski would go on to finish ninth in the 3200m with a time of 9:49, a new personal best.
