John Mark Dormann
1948-2021

John Mark Dormann, 72 of Palm Coast, Florida, passed peacefully at home on May 1, 2021.  He was in the arms of his loving wife Cathy and in the understanding home care of Vitas hospice workers.

Mark was born on Oct 8, 1948 in Erie, PA to the late George R Dormann and Marian Kleisath Dormann.  He graduated from Cathedral Preparatory High School in Erie and received further degrees after studies at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and Gannon University in Erie.

He worked many years at the Pennsylvania Department of Health, retiring as the Northwest district epidemiology manager.  Mark’s love of books and learning was always evident.  In Palm Coast he joined classes and discussion groups, volunteered at the library, taught many writing classes for adults, and volunteered with young school children at the “I can read” school program.

Family and friends will miss his kind heartedness, his love of nature, and his outrageous sense of humor.

Family and friends will miss his kind heartedness, his love of nature, and his outrageous sense of humor.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathy (Joan), and his two wonderful sons: Drew, with his dear wife Marta and daughter Mavyn, living in the Chicago area, and Will, who with his loving wife Lisa reside in Pittsburgh.  His sister Judy Dormann lives in Erie, PA, and remains, as always, near and dear.  Mark was preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters Joan and Mary and by his brother Jim.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
