Rymfire Elementary celebrated its Sunshine State Young Readers from May 17 to May 21, with competition battles and parties.
Students in grades K–2 who qualified competed in teams of three to four students in a quiz game show competition. Fourteen teams competed against each other, and the scores resulted in some top place ties.
Tied for first place were Team 1 (Bianna Williams, Ameera Toolsie, Gina Solicito and Miami Concepcion) and Team 5 (Hailey Harazin, Nathaniel Volkov, Isaac Soto and King Wells).
In second place was Team 10: Griffon Landkamer, Theresa Jeffrey, and Alijah Pressley.
Tied for third place were Team 6 (Audra Snyder, Abigail Johnson and Lyla Blake) and Team 9 (Jayden Wilson, Clyde Morris, Saydee Brooks and Hazel Boughton). All teams received goody gift bags, and the winning team members each received gift cards.
Students who qualified in grades 3–5 participated in a fun party celebration where they received a poster prize, snack party, and got to select a brand new library book to check out when school resumes next fall.
The winning team included Timothy Kulev, Lorenzien Wright, Sophia Dagostino and Rayah Hammons, each receiving their own gift card.
All sixth grade participants also received a new copy of an SSYRA book on the 2021–2022 list, and a pizza party celebration.
