A property annexed into the city of Palm Coast in 2015 may be the future site of 138 single-family homes.
The property, known as Grand Landings North, is slightly over 70 acres and lies just south of the Flagler Executive Airport.
The Palm Coast City Council voted 4-1 on Nov. 2 to change the property’s old Flagler County zoning designations of industrial and Planned Unit Development to the city of Palm Coast zoning designation of single-family residential.
City Councilman Victor Barbosa — who’s expressed concerns about the rezoning of industrial property to residential, saying the city needs more industrial property — was the dissenting vote.
Councilman Eddie Branquinho asked where the ingress and egress routes would be for the property. A former police detective, Branquinho often urges developers to make sure they have enough entrances and exits for first responders, and recently convinced another developer to add an additional entrance.
But that’s not yet determined for Grand Landings North. “This is a very rough conceptual plan,” said Vincent Sullivan, an attorney representing the developer. “I can certainly talk with them ... and see if we can get a more detailed graphic image for you.”
Lots for the development will be at least 6,000 square feet each. The city’s planning board Board had voted unanimously in favor of the rezoning on Oct. 20.
