Seabreeze girls, boys cross country teams advance to state championships

Tyler Herndon placed sixth, and three Seabreeze girls finished in the top 20, at regionals.

Senior Tyler Herndon ran a personal-record time, and three Seabreeze girls finished among the top 20 at the Region 2-3A cross country meet, as both Sandcrab teams advanced to the state championships.

Herndon ran a 16:26.61 to place sixth overall as the Seabreeze boys team finished seventh at the regional meet Nov. 6 at Austin Tindall Park in Kissimmee. The top eight teams advance to the state championships Friday, Nov. 12, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. 

"Our goal was to make it to the state meet, and we did that," Seabreeze boys coach Don Staller said.

The Seabreeze girls placed fifth in Kissimmee as freshman twins Mackenzie Roy (19:51.03) and Ariana Roy (20:00.67) finished eighth and 11th, respectively. Junior Nickole Dane (20:26.60) finished 19th, while senior Ella Chandler finished 41st (22:07.59).

For the Seabreeze boys, Hayden Herndon (17:44.83) finished 36th and Dominic Marinaccio (18:17.22) was 44th.
