Luciano Arce

  • Years of Service: 1951-1953
  • Branch of Military: U.S. Army’s 65th Infantry, 3rd Division, Company B
  • City of Residence: Palm Coast
  • What I learned: A soldier’s true honor is to lead by example, even if it means sacrificing his own future to protect the future of the country he loves.

In 2013, Arce had the privilege of meeting former commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James F. Amos during the “invitation-only” 60th anniversary of the Korean War ceremony in Washington, D.C. In 2016, Arce was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in Orlando, Florida.

In his spare time, Arce enjoys spending time with his family: his three daughters, five grandchildren and his lovely wife of 65 years. He will celebrate his 90th birthday on Oct. 16.

Palm Coast DAV meeting

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 86 will be holding its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 12, at the VFW at 47 Old Kings Road North. Many volunteer opportunities are available to support Flagler County veterans.
