On Friday, Oct. 1, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a ‘Be-On-the-Look Out’ for a gray Mitsubishi Eclipse bearing a Florida tag traveling southbound on U.S. 1 that was reported stolen from Orlando.
An FCSO deputy observed the car and began following it, and additional units responded to assist deploying StopSticks. The vehicle continued to travel for 12 minutes despite having three tires blown-out before the driver was identified as Michael Rivera and arrested. Drug paraphernalia was discovered in the car.
Rivera has 23 felonies and 19 misdemeanors on his record, including sexual assault and attempted first degree murder.
“Based on his arrest history, he needs to go to prison and throw the key away," Sheriff Rick Staly said.
Rivera is being held on no bond at the Flagler County jail.
