Tate Winecoff and Alyssa Sa were named Matanzas homecoming king and queen at halftime of the Pirates homecoming game Oct. 8.
Winecoff bookended his high school career with the senior honor. He was named homecoming prince as a freshman. Since then he has been in the AICE program for four years, SGA for three years, the Leo Club for four years and Alpha Theater for two years. He has also played football and basketball for four years and was on the weightlifting team for two years. Winecoff's favorite teacher is Ms. Minn. He plans to major in business and finance in college.
Sa's favorite teacher is also Ms. Minn. Sa has been in the AICE program for four years, the drumline for four years and SGA for three years. After high school, Sa plans to earn a degree in elementary education.
James Anotine and Cristian Lopez were the other nominees for homecoming king. Myracle Piginelli and Kamila Pires were the other nominees for homecoming queen.
Anotine's favorite teacher is Ms. Saunier. He has been on the football, basketball and track teams for four years. He plans to go to college and major in business. Pigninelli's favorite teachers are Mr. Reeder and Mr. DeCeglie. Pigninelli played softball for four years, was in Movie Club for two years and the mock trial team for one year. She plans to get a degree in psychology and travel around the world.
Lopez has been in ROTC for two-and-a-half years and steel band for one year. His favorite teacher is Mr. Allen. After high school he plans to enlist in the U.S. military. Pires was in ROTC for two years. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Alred. She would like to be a maternity nurse or a pediatrician.
The freshman prince and princess were Jonathan Santiago and Angelina Vardakis. The sophomore prince and princess were Stephen Maxwell and Sara-Kate Vannucci. And the junior prince and princess were Jordan Teixeria and Emma Markese.
