The 29th-annual Biketoberfest runs Oct. 14-17, and Sheriff Rick Staly has authorized increased patrols countywide with a focus on A1A and U.S. 1. Biketoberfest is an annual motorcycle rally hosted in Daytona Beach, and is expected to draw about 100,000 visitors this year. Many visitors pass through Flagler County or attend events at various venues along A1A, U.S. 1, and State Road 100.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Highway Patrol, the Flagler Beach Police Department, and the Bunnell Police Department, will be combining efforts to participate in Operations Tides, a countywide traffic operation focusing on deterring Texting while driving, Impaired driving, driving while Distracted or Exhausted, and Speeding throughout the duration of Biketoberfest. The DUI patrol unit will also be in effect throughout Biketoberfest. The DUI Taxi car along with a message board saying, “Look Twice, Save a Life Watch for Bikes” will be placed on SR 100.

“We want everyone to have a safe Biketoberfest this weekend,” Staly said. “If you plan to drink, please plan ahead of time. We will not tolerate drunk driving. We want to remind the residents of Flagler County to please say something if you see something. We will be having increased visitors in Flagler County and we want to make sure that everyone is safe this weekend. As always, drive sober or get pulled over!”
