The Flagler Chapter of the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club will hold a motorcycle ride to benefit Caleb Struble and his family on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The "Ride For Caleb" is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the club’s clubhouse at 307 Bay Street in Bunnell and end at Beach Front Grille, 2444 S. Oceanshore Blvd. in Flagler Beach.
Caleb Struble, 17, is a Matanzas High School student and Flagler Beach lifeguard who suffered a spinal cord injury when he hit a sandbar diving into the ocean during a lifeguard drill in July.
He is currently rehabilitating at Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
“Their family will need help for a very long time,” said Gina Secor, one of the organizers of the ride.
The Punishers LEMC is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to serving others.
"We are always here to help our community," Secor said.
Entry fee is $20 per rider and $10 for a passenger. Cars can join in for a $15 fee.
“It’s all about people raising money for Caleb whether you ride on a motorcycle or ride in a car,” Secor said.
An after-party at Beach Front Grille will feature raffles, a 50-50 drawing and music. T-shirts will be on sale.
The motorcycle club has also sold sponsorships for the ride to benefit the Struble family.
“Every place we went to in Flagler Beach (to ask for sponsorships), there was an outpouring of support,” Secor said. “There wasn’t a hesitation.”
