Book Club Social Corner: Tricks, Treats, or Terror - Friday, Oct. 1, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE. Do you love to read? Intro to Painting – Thursdays, Oct. 7 to Nov. 4, 4-5:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center. After taking this course, you will become versed in painting techniques such as mixing, shading, dabbing, layering, dry brush, detailing and so much more with certified art instructor Kristy Craigle. We will study light, shape, and texture of different subject matters, and then learn how to interpret that information into paintings that will help develop your artistic skillset. Pink on Parade 5k – Sunday, Oct. 10, 7:45-11:45 a.m., race at your place. Join AdventHealth’s virtual Pink on Parade 5K, as we celebrate the brave individuals in our community battling breast cancer, survivors who have won their fight, and those who shine on through their loved ones. Fundraising efforts include, but are not limited to, early detection screenings, wellness and lifestyle resources, and survivorship education programs to support those impacted by breast cancer. Lunch N’ Lecture – Friday, Oct. 22, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center. The Palm Coast Fire Department discusses ways to ensure your safety. Topics covered include smoke detectors, medical alarms, the key to neighbor/lockbox for access into your home in an emergency, attempting to eliminate fall risks, compressions or "Hands-Only CPR", removing hurricane shutters, extreme weather preparation, and fire extinguisher placement and use, as well as a Q/A session on general topics and concerns. First Aid and CPR/AED Course – Saturday, Oct. 23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center. Heartsaver First Aid is a 7-hour classroom course (includes 1 hour for lunch) that is designed to meet OSHA regulations. The course teaches basic first aid skills: administering CPR to an infant, young child, or an adult; using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); using a mask or barrier device; how to stop visible bleeding; assist with possible sprain or broken bone; securing the scene for safety. eSports Tournament: Madden 21 – Saturday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center. Prepare to go 1 on 1 with Madden 21 on the XBOX 1! This tournament will be double elimination. Quit Your Way. Stop Tobacco – Thursday, Oct. 28, 6-8 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center. This single-session program will provide you with the valuable tools you need to help you quit tobacco. These include: creating a quit plan, learning strategies and skills to deal with nicotine cravings to remain tobacco-free, dealing with slips, having the opportunity to share your experience with others in a friendly, respectful and supportive group setting, as well as FREE patches, gum, or lozenges, if medically appropriate. Join the Palm Coast Historical Society for their Founder’s Day event and appreciate all that makes us Palm Coast. Guest speakers include Michael Chiumento III and Linda Kasper. Hall of Terror – Friday to Saturday, Oct. 29-30, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 31, 7-10 p.m. at Fire Station 21, 9 Corporate Drive. Hall of Terror takes those who dare through a haunted house and show at Palm Coast Fire Station 21. Volunteer characters, many of whom are firefighters and other City employees, provide the scares. Tuesdays – Diabetes Prevention – Tuesdays, 9-10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. The National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) is presented in partnership with the Florida Department of Health. The National Diabetes Prevention Program was created for individuals diagnosed with pre-Diabetes or who are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes. The DPP is a year-long program, consisting of 8 weekly core sessions followed by 16 bi-weekly post-core sessions. Free, but registration and a referral are required. In doubles round robin play, each pair of players compete against every other player-it’s a great way to play a variety of games. These events, held twice per week, offer players of all ages and abilities a friendly and welcoming environment to play, practice, and compete. Thursdays – Pinochle – Thursdays, 12:30-4pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. Thursdays – Beginning Ballet – Thursdays, 4:30-5:15pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Dancers will enjoy this interactive class that builds on basic movements learned in the Ballet/Tap combination class but is still appropriate for first-time dancers. This beginning level class is designed to develop an awareness of alignment and basic ballet vocabulary and technique. Fridays – Zumba® Gold – Fridays, 9-10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This class is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Fridays – Singles Round Robin Tennis – Fridays, 6-8pm at Palm Coast Tennis Center, 1290 Belle Terre Pkwy. In singles round robin play, each player plays against every other player - it’s a great way to play a variety of games. These events, held once per week, offer players of all ages and abilities a friendly and welcoming environment to play, practice, and compete. It is a great way to meet new people! Saturdays – Junior Golf Clinics – Saturdays, ages 7-11 years at 9-10am and ages 12-16 years at 10-11am at Palm Harbor Golf Club, 20 Palm Harbor Drive. Get out on the course with an instructor to learn the game of golf! Kids will learn basic golf skills in this weekly clinic. Space is limited, so sign up early by calling 386-986-4653 (GOLF).
