A power outage at Belle Terre Elementary School has prompted district staff to dismiss students early today, April 11.

Students whose parents or guardians aren't able to pick them up early can remain on campus until the regular dismissal time.

Parents whose children are regular car riders can pick them up early between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., following the usual car rider protocol.

Parents whose children are not regular car riders, but who are able to pick them up early, should go to the front office to do so (have ID ready).

Extended daycare students should also be picked up early, if possible.

"We have provided lunches for all the kids, they are safe, and those who remain will be supervised," district spokesman Jason Wheeler said.

The district had not yet determined what caused the outage or when the power will be restored, Wheeler said.
