A Bunnell man impersonated a police officer for over two years to get a law enforcement discount at the Wendy's on State Road 100, according to police.

Bunnell Police Department officers arrested suspect Jesse David Stover, 57, on April 11 after the restaurant called 911.

Witnesses said that Stover had asked for a law enforcement discount, and, when he was asked for ID, quickly flashed a gold-colored badge.

Restaurant staff weren't convinced, and Stover started arguing, at one point saying, falsely, that he was actually an undercover agent for the DEA.

When officers arrested him on a felony charge of impersonating an officer, they found a gold-colored badge — a concealed weapons permit badge that looks, at first glance, like a law enforcement badge.

Police officers found that he'd been a regular customer at the Wendy's and had been demanding, and receiving, a law enforcement discount for more than two years.
