Matanzas qualified seven lifters for the Class 2A state boys weightlifting championships April 22 at Port St. Joe High School.
Cameron Sleep (119 pounds), Jaeden Sao (119), Aiden Schissler (139) and Cole Hash (183) qualified in both the traditional and snatch competitions. Dakwon Evans (154) qualified in the traditional competition. Zeke Flores (219) and Tate Winecoff (238) qualified in the snatch.
Hash, the regional champ in the traditional competition, is the fourth seed at 183 pounds with a 585-pound bench and clean and jerk total.
Seabreeze had two state qualifiers for the Class 2A weightlifting championships. Both Steven Taylor (199 pounds) and Dante Jones (219 pounds) qualified in the snatch competition.
Father Lopez will have four lifters competing at the Class 1A state weightlifting championships on April 23 at Port St. Joe.
Jackson Oldham is the second seed at 199 pounds with a 605 bench/clean and jerk total. Cole Zonca (119), regional champ Aiden Harris (183), and Bryce Nmmer (219) also qualified in the traditional competition.
Flagler Palm Coast's boys lacrosse team advanced to the District 3-2A championship game with a 15-11 win over Fleming Island on April 12.
The Bulldogs improved to 11-4 with the semifinal victory. They will meet top seed Creekside on Thursday, April 14.
FPC likely secured a playoff spot with the win over Fleming Island. A district title would mean a home game in the first round of the playoffs.
Creekside, the fifth-ranked team in Class 2A, defeated the Bulldogs 13-5 on March 22. It was FPC's only loss by more than one goal this season.
