Fraud. A 67-year-old Ormond Beach woman advised police she had received a phone call from the Clay County Sheriff's Office telling her there was a warrant out for her arrest because she failed to appear for federal jury duty.
The woman reported that she remained on the phone for over five hours with the individual, a "Major Knox," pretending to be with the sheriff's office, which resulted in her being scammed out of $7,600. Major Knox instructed her to use a cash payment app or gift cards to pay to remove the warrants. The woman was asked to pay $3,600 for three warrants, which she paid with gift cards. She was also instructed to read the card numbers to the person over the phone and mail the receipts and cards to "Clay County Jury Services."
She was then transferred to a "sergeant" who told her she still owed $3,600 for a "warrant for first time offenders," according to the police report. She purchased more gift cards and indicated they would drive down to Clay County to hand-deliver them, but was advised by the scammers not to do so and to mail them instead, as she had done with the first batch.
The woman told police she complied with their demands because she was scared she would be arrested. She wished to pursue charges.

Animal complaint. A 36-year-old Ormond Beach man called police after he said his Uber Eats driver was attacked by a neighbor's dog.
According to the police report, the driver was delivering the man's pizza when the dog "potentially" attacked him by knocking him down. The food was delivered though, and the driver never reported the incident.
The man told police that the neighbor's dog, described as a "very large Mastiff-type mixed breed dog," routinely runs around scaring people. The man said he was afraid to allow his son to play outside because of this.
Officers didn't see the dog loose in the area.

Information. Two Ormond Beach neighbors have been in an ongoing civil dispute over cats.
A police incident report details that the reporting party, a 51-year-old Ormond Beach woman, told police that the dispute began with her 23-year-old triplex neighbor's cats "running at large" and pulling at her screens at night. The issue then grew to a dispute over rental boundaries, with each person complaining that the other is putting their stuff in the other's area, and moving property.
The woman also complained to police that her neighbor's children have been walking through her garden and messing it up.
In turn, the neighbor complained to police that the woman killed weeds in her garden, though she didn't see her do it. The neighbor suspected the woman to be the culprit of the neighbor's dead weeds because she had spotted weed killer on her window. She also complained that the woman has had guests over that have messed up her garden.
The two also complained about each other moving things by their respective front doors. Police advised them to contact the landlord for this issue, but the woman said he is not addressing their dispute. So the officer then advised them to keep their stuff on their section of property.
