Man robs store for a gun, ignores register and jewelry

1:59 a.m. — 1400 block of Palm Coast Parkway NW, Palm Coast

Armed burglary, petit theft. A pawn and jewelry store was robbed, but the suspect took only one thing: an AK-47.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to a commercial alarm in the 1400 block of Palm Coast Parkway. They found the business' glass door shattered, with glass on the ground outside next to a hammer, the incident report said. Deputies noted that the store did not appear ransacked and the register and jewelry display cases were all intact.

Upon reviewing the security camera footage, deputies saw a man smash the door open with a hammer, step inside and grab the Radom Hellpup AK-47 off the wall next to the door and then leave, the report said.  He did not take anything else. The firearm, which had a 30-round magazine attached, is valued at $500.

'Tis the season for stolen tequila

6:45 p.m. — 4900 block of Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast

Shoplifting, grand theft. A grocery store in Palm Coast had $1,015.99 in alcohol stolen.

The store cashier told deputies that three people entered the store just before 7 p.m., grabbed baskets and headed straight for the tequila section, according to the incident report. The suspects — two men and a woman — placed 16 bottles of tequila in their baskets, before exiting the store and walking, not running, out of security camera frame. Deputies believe the suspects parked in a parking lot around the corner of the building.

In total, the suspects stole: two bottles of Casamigos Anejo at $68.99 each, two bottles of Casamigos Mezcal at $75.99 each, two bottles of Julio Tequila at $68.99 each, two bottles of Don Julio Blanco at $57.99 each, two bottles of Don Julio 70th Anniversary at $83.99 each, three bottles of Casamigos Reposado at $64.99 each and three bottles of Casamigos Blanco at $53.99 each.
