Flagler County Public Information Officer Julie Murphy has completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Public Information Officer” (PIO) through the Commission on Professional Credentialing, according to a news release from the CPC.

The designation was conferred on Dec. 5, making Murphy one of 17 CPC-designated PIOs worldwide.

The program uses a peer-review model and recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven components: experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competence.

This professional designation is valid for three years, according to the news release.

Recipients must adhere to a code of professional conduct and demonstrate professional development, professional contributions, active association membership and community involvement to maintain the designation.
