A full complement of beach ramps — 22 in total — opened once again to vehicles on Tuesday, Feb. 1, marking the start to Volusia County’s annual in-season ramp schedule. The ramps provide access to county beaches, from Ormond Beach south to New Smyrna Beach, with multiple entry lanes at the more heavily trafficked locations.
The one ramp not yet ready to open is at 27th Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. The ramp is being replaced and work is expected to be completed in June. Until then, the ramp will remain closed to vehicles and pedestrians. The next closest vehicle beach ramp is approximately 1.5 miles north, at Third Avenue. The 27th Avenue Beachfront Park, however, remains open.

The Crawford Road beach ramp will remain a passholder-only express ramp to provide quick access for those with a current annual beach pass. Annual passes are valid for 365 days from the purchase date, rather than by calendar year. If an annual pass holder visits the beach or inlet park within 30 days of their current pass expiring, the toll attendant will advise when the pass is set to expire. The pass holder will then have the option to either renew their pass on the spot or the next time they visit the beach or inlet park.
