From all kinds of flora and fauna, stars, a peace pipe, and even a Union Jack, each state in America has its own symbol to represent their history and contribution to the nation.
Most of these flags were created hundreds of years ago; some were a result of contests, while others were drafted through as a legislative process. But are these designs a modern reflection of what each state is known for today, given the centuries that have passed?
MOJOMOX.com, an online brand designing site, conducted a poll of 3,236 Americans across each state, asking them one question: If your state flag was to be redesigned, how would you like it to look?
In the poll, New Yorkers opted of the Statue of Liberty, and Pennsylvanians voted for their Liberty Bell.
Forty-seven percent of Floridians said they’d want a rebrand of their state flag to include something about it being home to the Space Coast: a region surrounding the Kennedy Space Center, as well as the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. One of the reasons rockets are launched in the Sunshine State has to do with the rotation of the earth: The planet rotates fastest at the equator, so it's ideal to launch a rocket near the equator.
More than a third (35%) of people thought the Florida flag should include a citrus-inspired element. Fourteen percent thought the flag should have something to do with alligators and crocodiles.
