Flagler Palm Coast will have nearly a full team competing when it hosts the Region 1-3A boys wrestling championships on Feb. 25.
The Bulldogs qualified 12 wrestlers at the District 2-3A tournament on Feb. 18 in Gainesville and won the team title, defeating second-place Gainesville Buchholz, 262-241.
Six FPC wrestlers won district titles: juniors Kole Hannant (120 pounds) and John Hald (126) and seniors Tim King (152 pounds), Bryce Dodge (160), Blane DeFord (170) and Garrick Schwartz (195).
The Bulldogs’ other qualifiers include freshman T.J. McLean (second at 106), freshman Carson Baert (second at 113), senior Felipe Costa (second at 145), senior Marcelo Gonzalez (second at 182), senior Dalton Schell (second at 220) and senior Seth Davis (second at 285). Davis lost the final by a 3-2 to decision to Cane Fernandez of Ocala Forest.
Hannant improved to 39-7 on the season with a 13-0 major decision over Buchholz’s Jedidiah Brown in the 120-pound final.
Hald pinned Buchholz’s Cavarius Liddie at 5:33 in the 126 final to improve to 34-10. King won by technical fall in the 152 final, 17-0 over Tyler Pinkowski of West Port. King improved to 19-13.
Dodge (15-13) also won by technical fall, 16-0 over Forest’s Antonio Brown in the 160 final. DeFord improved to 31-6 with a 10-3 decision over Wordner Edoward of Sanford Seminole in the 170 final.
Schwartz improved to 35-9 with a 4-0 decision over Jamari Chisolm of Buchholz in the 195 final.
